Each year, Happier suggests an inspiring, practical challenge that runs for the next twelve months. Because people are feeling so drained and burnt out these days, we wanted to help people recharge. For 2022, we challenged ourselves and listeners to “Rest 22 in 2022.”
We’ve been fascinated by all the ways people apply this challenge. We’ve learned that rest looks different for everyone. Some people nap. Some people take a twenty-minute break from visual stimulation. Some people just lie on a sofa.
In this episode, we launch the challenge to encourage people to rest, relax, and recharge.

To help ourselves and listeners take the steps that would make us happier, we shared our “22 for 22” lists of things we want to get done in 2022, and we encouraged listeners to make their own lists. Some items might be ambitious–like “Finally go to Japan”—while others might be tedious, nagging tasks that will feel great to get accomplished—like “Install the shelf in the garage.”
